A new Lorcana set is here and with it comes a slew of new cards that will impact our current metagame! My article will be focused on one of the six colors in Lorcana - Ruby. This new set, Shimmering Skies, features quite a few cards that have the ability to truly impact the game! As we know from previous sets, Ruby, is VERY popular. So, let us start with the best Ruby cards from this set!
I like to focus on any legendary cards that might be able to impact the meta, so let's start with Robin Hood - Sharpshooter!
I think this card has the potential to be good as more 6 cost actions are released. This card might not affect the metagame quite yet, but it definitely has potential as more support is released for both "Robin Hood" and as better action cards are released. Next up is the super rare, Who's With Me?
This card is pretty cool for a couple reasons. First, it gives all of your characters 2 more attack. Then if you challenge an opposing character with one of your Reckless characters, you get to gain 2 lore. This makes cards that would have never gained lore, the opportunity to not only help you win the board, but the game at the same time. Next up is the man himself, Gaston - Pure Paragon!
This card could be overwhelming if it comes into play. I really like cards that can be played cheaply, and this would fit right into current Mufasa decks. Mufasa plays cards that come into play being damaged, which could reduce the cost of this card. Next up we have Taffyta Muttonfudge - Ruthless Rival!
This is just a generically good red card in decks that want to gain as much lore as fast as possible. Being able to quest for two lore as a 2-drop, it can fit into quite a few decks very easily. It also has another benefit. It can be used to shift into the next card we will be looking at, Taffyta Muttonfudge- Sour Speedster!
This card is interesting because if you shift into it, you can gain 3 lore in one turn. It's also decently stated and can get around removal cards like "Brawl" in the early game. It also will only get better with future sets as more locations are introduced into the game. The last card that I think could eventually see competitive play is Evil Comes Prepared!
As archetypes become more prevalent as more cards come out, I think this card could find a home in a villain deck. The card is inkable and has a super good effect if you can take advantage of "If a Villain character is chosen, gain 1 lore." So, you could quest with a Villain, play tis card to set it in the ready position and gain an additional lore, while protecting your character from being swung into or being able to still swing into something else. Lastly, let us take a look at some of the chase cards for Ruby this set!
These cards are the Ruby Enchanted cards Shimmering Skies! Each set people race to open a large number of packs in the hopes of pulling an enchanted card. This set, the enchanted cards look different, and I think it's a positive change! All of the art is really good and very colorful.
Well, that does it for Ruby in Shimmering Skies! This set looks to be a promising one and here at CoolStuff, the writers are breaking down every color of this set. So be sure to read them all to get a grasp on what cards look to be impactful and what cards you should be chasing after. Good luck to everyone on their pulls!
